R. J. Revere La Noue

Revere La Noue is an award winning filmmaker and artist based in Durham, North Carolina.  One of the most important experiences in his artistic development was a year studying in France.  Many French towns have smaller museums where one can view sketches and preliminary works of the great painters.  By examining this “reverse engineering” he began to form his own artistic process.  Mr. La Noue has expressed his artistic vision with great success as a filmmaker.  His work has been shown on TV and film screens across the world from MSNBC to the Full Frame Film Festival.  On several occasions Mr. La Noue has incorporated his drawing and painting into his films such as “Portrait of a Glitch” which premiered nationally at the Pacific Film Archives and internationally at the Planet in Focus International Film Festival.

Mr. La Noue has exhibited his works on canvas and paper around the country.  His work has shown at the central gallery of the Torpedo Factory, Alexandria, Va, The Summer Works Show, Washigton, DC, The Odd Fellows Gallery, Baltimore MD, The Cantor Museum, Palo Alto, CA.  His art is exhibited regularly at the Bull City Arts Collaborative in Durham, NC.  A large piece from his “Original Fighting Irish Print Series” hangs in the new Arlotta Stadium at the University of Notre Dame, where La Noue played lacrosse for the Fighting Irish.

Mr. La Noue is now focusing on a series of works that celebrate the often unknown history and tradition of the college mascot.  He is dedicated to building a wide collection of recognizable work that honors these unique icons of the American story.

Mr. La Noue has a Bachelor’s Degree from the College of Arts and Letters at the University of Notre Dame and a Master’s Degree from the Documentary Film and Video Program at Stanford University.  He received additional art training at The Art League in Alexandria, Virginia, The Corcoran School of Art in Washington D.C., The Pratt Institute NY, NY and Universite Catholique De L’Ouest in Angers, France.
